Re: “Hungry for the Hippodrome

I have to wonder why, after meeting friends at the Mansion for an AMAZING dinner at the Mansion at 6 PM, I'm home at 8 PM on a Saturday night. They have finished the bar just to the right of the Mansion, where you can have a drink while awaiting the rest of your part for dinner at the Mansion. Our bartender, Melanie was EXCELLANT in her service and ability to mix a drink that made you feel the money was worth it. After we were seated for dinner, Melanie had Teddy Grayson come over and fill us in on the history of the place, beyond the "History of the Hippodrome" cards that were available. He was better than I was when I was a tour guide for the an actual Museum in my "prime'. I was soooo relieved that this visit was not the disappointment I had feared when I found out that the SpeakEasy was closed tonight, due to the VUU & VSU alumni event. After Teddy walked us mentally through the history of the building, our chef, Austin visited our table, after we sent our regards about the EXCELLANT quality of the food, (try the garlic chicken wings!!) and gave us a physical tour of the SpeakEasy and balcony. The folks I had brought there were from Ohio and had frequented Chicago for their entertainment needs, so I feared they would be disappointed in our visit, but they were so impressed by the food and staff and the place that I had to write. Meanwhile, Mr. Stallings, if you bother to read these messages, I would like to speak to you on behalf of May and the other customers who were in the bar while I waited for my co-diners who were so disappointed that the Speakeasy was closed on a Saturday night about how NOT to be losing revenue of nights such as this when hard working folks my age would love to have somewhere to go and eat and relax.
