Even though everybody listens to prerecorded music, most people never get up close and personal with the recording process. Now’s your chance. The recently relocated Sound of Music Recording Studios opens its doors for a live recording session by Asheville, N.C.-based blues merchants Turchi on Saturday, Oct. 11. The trio plays a trashy, electrified brand of Mississippi blues similar to the white-boy offerings heard on Norton Records. Frontman and slide guitarist Reed Turchi leads the gin-soaked, recorded-for-prosperity festivities thumbing and pumping the ghosts of Junior Kimbrough, Fred McDowell and R.L. Burnside. The band is perfect for the setting, offering music that’s all about capturing the moment. Go prepared to be a helpful part of the process. Doors open at 8 p.m. Admission is $5. soundofmusicrva.com.
