Tim Reid, the actor of Venus Flytrap fame, "just checked into rehab" at The Life Center of Galax in Southwest Virginia, entertainment Web site Mediatakeout.com reported Jan. 7. But Reid's wife, actress Daphne Maxwell Reid, says her husband is just fine. "No, he is not in a rehab center. We have just spent the past three weeks visiting our grandchildren in Houston and Los Angeles," Daphne Reid says in an e-mail.

A representative from the center tells Style Weekly that a client named "Tim Reid" is receiving treatment at the clinic, and provided the name and telephone number of his counselor, who did not return a call by press time Monday.

The center, which provides treatment for alcohol and drug abuse, opened in 1973. Its Web site states that "confidentiality is held to the utmost importance."

Tim and Daphne Reid own the Petersburg-based film-production facility, New Millennium Studios -- which they co-founded in 1997.

Tim Reid is known for his roles as the gentle father on the sitcom "Sister, Sister" and disc jockey Venus Flytrap on the 1970s sitcom "WKRP in Cincinnati." The Reids also have been somewhat involved in the Virginia political scene. S
