Like any beloved art form, the fairy tale could stand some modern-day tweaking. Take the typical evil witch, cackling and wringing her hands behind a tree: Make her a rapper. The handsome Prince Charming, he's a Casanova. Little Red Riding Hood? Don't touch her picnic basket — she's bloodthirsty. Throw in some lying, stealing, and a baker and his wife on a quest. And happily ever after? That's just the beginning. The "fractured" fairy tale "Into the Woods" begins June 15 at the Barksdale Theatre at Willow Lawn at 8 p.m. Through Aug. 19.
