The William & Mary Choir

his special event is part of the church's acclaimed E. Carl Freeman Concert Series, a Richmond music tradition since 1970. The W&M Choir will perform movements of Jeraldine Herbison’s remarkable Messages to the Human Heart in concert on campus and on its annual Spring Tour. This work was commissioned to honor the 50th anniversary of the first residential African-American students at W&M, and will receive its full premiere at Commencement on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Ms. Herbison resides in Hampton, VA, and has received commissions from ensembles and organizations across the US. The Choir is under the direction of Miles Canaday, Interim Director of Choirs. From the earliest days of River Road Church, it was the intention of the founders that the music ministry be of the highest quality. Music at River Road Church is rooted in the work of time-honored composers of the “classical” tradition, while embracing a wide range of styles and periods. The majestic Sanctuary at River Road Church has long been a favorite venue for lovers of traditional church music. In addition to the M.P. Möller Organ, the Sanctuary has a Boston Grand Piano and a Steinway B piano. The Sanctuary has recently received upgrades to its lighting and sound systems, further enhancing the church's worship of God through music. FREE tickets are available through Eventbrite at River Road Church, Baptist is a Christian fellowship of Baptist heritage, welcoming all, regardless of denominational affiliation, to join together in worship, study, fellowship, and service. The church is located at River and Ridge Roads in Richmond’s West End.
