“The Tempest” at Maymont

Wednesday, May 1, at 7 p.m. Free.

After a successful run earlier this year, Richmond Shakespeare reprises one of the Bard’s final and most dramatic plays, “The Tempest,” for one more performance under the stars at Maymont. The play tells the story of Prospero, a sorcerer betrayed by his brother and exiled to a tiny island with his daughter, where he plots his revenge and his return to power. In the process, he struggles to find grace and redemption and must face his mortality. “The Tempest” takes place on the carriage house lawn at Maymont on Wednesday, May 1, at 7 p.m. Rain date: May 2. Free. maymont.org.
