The Step Up for Down Syndrome 5-K Walk and Festival

Celebrating the accomplishments of people with Down syndrome in Central Virginia, the eighth annual Step Up for Down Syndrome 5-K Walk and Festival is Saturday, Oct. 11, at Innsbrook Pavilion. It’s a day of family-friendly delights with music by the Groove Motive, group performances, children’s amusements, all types of things to ingest, and a fashion show featuring people with the condition. As someone who spent many of his formative years volunteering with the Special Olympics, I can attest to how uplifting these types of events can be for everyone involved. I have no doubt that this benefit for the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond will be no different. The festivities run from 9 a.m.-noon. Free. dsagr.com.
