The RVA Wake N’ Sun Fest

Sunday, Sept. 1. 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The best way to honor the American labor movement of the 20th century is to spend Labor Day weekend doing nothing. Why? Because doing nothing was a luxury that the people we celebrate didn’t have. To show proper, grateful appreciation for the 40-hour work week, union representation, and keeping your precious spawn off the factory floor — all patriotic Americans should revel in the 72-hour holiday. A cornucopia of diversions can be found in abundance at the RVA Wake N’ Sun Fest on Sunday, Sept. 1. There will be a litany of outdoor activities from kayaking to paddle board rentals and jet skis, musical and culinary indulgences and carefree merriments to savor. These are the things you should be doing if you take this whole Labor Day thing seriously. The festivities commence at 11 a.m. and run until 9 p.m. Admission is $10. rvawakensunfest.com.
