This inaugural event in Richmond, with the theme Where Diversity and Dancing Unite, features teachers with national and international reputations, according to a release. A lineup of DJs will provide workshops for dancers of all levels with these talented salsa, bachata and tango instructors on hand to improve your skills. Organizers are expecting up to a thousand participants from around the state and this congress will also feature a collegiate championship with teams from the University of Virginia, the College of William and Mary, Virginia Commonwealth University, George Washington University and James Madison University competing for bragging rights. It’s part of a fundraising effort for Richmond Salsa Bachata Foundation, a nonprofit working toward introducing Latin dance to seventh- and eighth-graders. There are various ticket prices and pass levels for the weekend from $50-$150. See rvasalsa.com.
