The Rulers Back

There's always an awkward moment when you attend a performance of a latter-day living legend. No, not the part when you notice a spare tire where their washboard stomach used to be. Or the part where they forget the lyrics to their top-10 hit. It's the part when they subject the audience to their new material, ruining an evening of nostalgia and reflection with unfamiliar sounds. Don't count on that moment occurring at the Slick Rick concert at Toad's Place. Rick, the maker of hip-hop classics such as "Children's Story" and "Teenage Love," hasn't put out a new album since 1999. Expect the songs you know and love from the London-born rapper April 10 at 8 p.m. $17.50-$20. 648-TOAD.
