The Four Tops at the Beacon Theater in Hopewell

Saturday, Jan. 17

Originally known as the Four Aims when they signed with Chess Records in 1956, the Four Tops became one of the biggest selling vocal groups of all-time. The Detroit group was a pivotal player in defining the Motown sound of the 1960s, and it was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. What’s even more amazing is that some are still playing today. Tenor vocalist Abdul “Duke” Fakir may be the only original member still performing with the group, but the current lineup including Roquel Payton, the son of the original member Lawrence Payton, Harold “Spike” Bonhart and Ronnie McNeir can still re-create the “Standing in the Shadows of Love” magic. The Four Tops bring its gold mine of hits to the Beacon Theater on Saturday, Jan. 17. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $45-$90. thebeacontheatreva.com.
