Found Footage Festival curators Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher are connoisseurs of the surreal and irresistibly funny detritus of television culture: demented exercise videos, crazy-ass public-access shows, laugh-out-loud VHS covers and a prankster yo-yo champion who leaves local television anchors speechless (bless you, Kenny “K-Strass” Strasser). The guys have been collecting this stuff for years from garage sales, thrift stores and such. Their traveling tour, like a live version of “Mystery Science Theater 3000,” features comedic narration of gems from their collection. Considering that America has an infinite supply of train wrecks to explore, the 10th annual Found Footage Festival is sure to keep the crowd rolling Saturday, Oct. 4, at Strange Matter. Doors at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 on day of show. strangematterrva.com.
