The Alex Meixner Band

“I feel the music I perform, and how it’s being presented by my band truly brings people together to enjoy life,” says Alex Meixner, the wild, Grammy-nominated polka player. “We need more of this in the world.”

Meixner began playing at age 6 with his sisters and father in an ethnic folk ensemble and hasn’t looked back. He fires up crowds with bouncing accordion jams fueled by a relentless desire to spread the joy of performance. When he isn’t sweating it out onstage with a smile across his face, the gifted player teaches young kids the fundamentals of music through community programs and private lessons.

“I hope people learn that the themes of all of the different forms and traditions of folk music represented have more in common than not in common,” he says. “Despite the use of different musical instruments, rhythms and languages, the themes of dance, love and family are prevalent in every form of folk music.” Well said.
