Re: “Spaced Out

Renters’ upset in the blocks impacted by the proposed parking restriction was apparently initially caused by some miscommunication regarding the availability of guest passes to the aforementioned renters versus homeowners. If the purpose of the story was to not detail the upset of renters over this misunderstanding, then why include the statement about loud protests being sparked? Clearly, Karri Peifer at Richmond.com in fact did not cover the issue well, which was my point.

Re: “Spaced Out

Ned Oliver states in the first few paragraphs here that “The plan, which further limits visitor parking hours, has sparked loud protest (sic) from younger renters in the district”, but this statement is not addressed in THE DETAILS section or anywhere else in the ‘piece’.

Richmond.com ran a story a few weeks ago regarding these proposed parking changes, which really only affect the West Ave blocks and a few side streets, where the initial claim was made that guest passes would be only available to homeowners on the target blocks. The Richmond.com writer later had to post an update, which was essentially a retraction. The guest passes are in fact going to be available to both homeowners and renters alike in the targeted blocks. Other than an increase in 1-hour parking hours without a decal or pass, the new restrictions only hamper folks who don’t live on these blocks. You can’t tell me the staff at Style doesn’t routinely read Richmond.com.

Why then are younger renters protesting?
