Re: “Pro-Choice Rally Turns Raucous

You folks can't honestly cry "religious freedom" about the contraception issues when George W. Bush started using federal money to fund "faith based initiatives" with the wave of an executive order pen in January of 2001. Once religious organizations started taking federal funds (which come as much from secular citizens as from religious) to fund their businesses (that provide secular services to secular citizens and employ secular employees who need secular health care) they moved into the secular employer arena and now have to play by the secular employer rules. The part of their organizations that are still religious still get religious exemptions.

But if you think your religion should decide for others then we should also consider whether your lifetime of sucking back beer, high fat food, smoking, and being sedentary couldn't also be considered "slow suicide" and be covered by the same doctrine. Things like high blood pressure, heart disease, erectile dysfunction, depression, lung cancer, aneursyms, liver disease, type 2 diabetes, alcoholism, drug addiction, all should be considered not covered if they are found to be linked to behaviors known to be self destructive. Suicide is, after all, against most of the religious doctrines of the world.

An egg is not a chicken, an acorn is not a tree, a silk pod is not a shirt, a bible is not a Constitution, a stone tablet is not a Bill of Rights, and a fetus is not a person - no matter how you or your bishops and deacons spin it. If you don't want an abortion then don't have one. Simple. If you want to make life sacred then crawl down off your high horse and be about the lives of people who are here now. Also simple. Be part of the solution and stop being the problem.

This is not the first time this fight has been fought. History has proven you will not win. You have never won, and you never will because you are wrong.
