Style Weekly Announces New Editor

Big news: The team at Style is thrilled to introduce Richmond journalist Jack Cooksey as the publication’s new editor. He previously served as editor-in-chief of Richmond magazine, where he worked from 2006 to 2015.

“There’s a lot to live up to at Style,” Cooksey says. “This publication has a storied reputation and has counted some of our region’s best journalists in its ranks. The current editorial team is talented and fiercely dedicated — I’m proud to be among them.”

He follows former editor Jason Roop, who led the weekly’s newsroom from 2005 until May, when he left to found a new communications consulting business, Springstory.

Cooksey, a Richmond native, is a 1994 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Mass Communications. In addition to Richmond magazine, his media career has included writing and editing positions at the Post & Courier in Charleston, South Carolina, Inside Business, a former Richmond journal owned by the parent company of Style, the Virginian-Pilot, and a New York-based trade journal, HFN.
