Oh, I couldn't disagree more about the content of the play! I have read this play several times and I cannot help but think that many of the unanswered questions you asked about the play are the very point of the playwright.

Many people, homosexuals and heterosexuals alike, never are able to fully reconcile their own personal faith with the dogmatic views of the church, much like Luke. Like Adam, anyone's faith or lack thereof can be turned on its ear by a tragic event. Also, I cannot help but mention that a tragically shortened life cannot help but leave unanswered questions.

I love the way the jokes break up the tragedy of the play, full of interrupted memories that flow like the train of thought of anyone who has ever sat in a hospital wondering if they'd get one more conversation. I think this play's beautiful.
