Shamrock the Block on the Boulevard
It’s the 15th year for this large free festival on the Boulevard between Leigh and Broad streets. Attendance has grown to more than 40,000, which means that walking and biking is usually a good idea. Bands include the Folly, Cracker Jackson and Redneck Pool Party. There will be a wide variety of food and beverages, as well as ATMs on site. Outside alcohol and coolers not allowed. Rain or shine. Noon to 6 p.m. Free. shamrocktheblock.com.

Shamrock and Roll at River City Roll
Trying to get your bowl on and celebrate St. Patty’s Day a day early? Keep your shamrock party going at the parking lot party at nearby River City Roll with indoor and outdoor live music kicking off at 5 p.m. with Richmond’s favorite yacht rock act, Three Sheets to the Wind. 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. rivercityroll.com.

Blarney Bash at 17th Street Market Place
Experience St. Patrick’s Day festivities in the newly renovated farmers market downtown — there will be bands, Irish dancing and of course, beer. There will be a moon bounce for the little ones, as well. Official afterparty at Ponies and Pints on 18th Street. enrichmond.org/17th-street-market.
