Re: “The Long Walk

I understand what Spitzer is trying to do here. So many people are anti-gun and they have never even handled or been exposed to them. However, this is not the best way to make people more comfortable around guns. This is a society where the typical person's exposure to guns is through media (news coverage of war, riots, military/police action, movies, games, etc.), and this designs the fear and uncomfortable feelings that this open carry movement is amplifying in members of the community. The last time I saw a group of people carrying weapons of that nature was in Iraq while I was in the military...and I was one of them. I don't want to be reminded of a war-torn country here in my home city. Personally, I will always support gun rights, but in order to rally support within the community, tact is necessary.

Sidebar: for anyone commenting on Spitzer's personal information stated in the article...(e.g.: debt, single, unemployed...etc.)...using this information to design an ad hominem attack is pretty weak. I can't think of anyone who hasn't filled those shoes in their lifetimes.
