Scott Phillips: “Lost Parade” at the Eric Schindler Gallery

Friday, Feb. 13 through March 7

His works may be confined to canvas, but local artist Scott Phillips’ paintings are in a constant state of movement. Intensely worked, his fluid brush leads line, color and imagery to a conclusion that no two people will view the same. His new show, “Lost Parade,” is a departure from his previous works. Here Phillips peruses an intuitive, flowing abstraction in paintings that once were colorfully spiked and sprinkled with conflicting themes. Defined by their amorphous geometry, the pieces have an impressionistic, vaguely cubist feel to them — as if they’re being viewed through tinted, oily liquid of unknown origin. It’s a unified vision that captures spontaneous perception without locking it in space. The opening reception is Friday, Feb. 13, 7-9 p.m., at the Eric Schindler Gallery. Through March 7. ericschindlergallery.com.
