Science Matters: Environmental Film Festival - We Only Save What We Know

When: Fri., Feb. 9, 6-9 p.m. 2018
Join Science Matters at the Community Idea Stations Friday, Feb. 9, for an evening of film which explores endangered species and the photographers, filmmakers and researchers working to save them. Presented by Science Matters as part of the Richmond Environmental Film Festival, the evening will begin with the PBS series "Rare: Creatures of the Photo Ark" exploring the work of photographer Joel Sartore who traveled the globe to document thousands of species at the risk of extinction. Following "Rare" will be a screening of the short film "Person of the Forest" co-directed and produced by local filmmakers Melissa Lesh and Trevor Frost. The film follows National Geographic photographer Tim Laman, orangutan researcher Cheryl Knott and National Geographic young explorer Robert Rodriquez Suro as they work to shed new light on the similarities between humans and our ancient ancestors, before it's too late.
