Scenes From the Samantha Myers Vigil

About 50 people gathered Wednesday evening near North Hopkins Road and Holly Spring Avenue, where the body of 20-year-old Samantha Myers was found in ravine last month. Family and friends remembered her kindness and youth, a woman not long out of school eager to make a name for herself. Myer’s stepsister, Yvette L. Hairston, 40, confessed to the crime and has been charged with her murder. Hairston’s 21-year-old daughter was charged with conspiracy to commit murder. “Samantha’s family, her aunt and her dad, they’re holding up, but they’re having a hard time,” says Alicia Rasin, who led the memorial vigil at the family’s request.
