Do you mean private development such as the 301 apartment complexes being built on untaxed Seminary property on the Northside? They will rent for market rate. Or the apartments along Chamberlayne Ave that are being renovated? They rent for more than most people get for disability. Tiny houses? Southside trailer courts are being scrutinized for code violations and shut down. Convenient, downtown locations? College students are lining up for them with their parents deposits and credit score. The rare carriage house or duplex is offered first to neighbors online. Then we get a winter heating bill like most people are reeling from lately and the utilities get cut off. The very poor do not have a line credit to absorb a hit like that. Thank you, Ed, for your proposal. I hope it generates a larger discussion.
