Re: “The Nine Most Endangered Places in Richmond

Is this real life???

Style Weekly, why are you giving this (what I can only assume is a stodgy 65 year old man) a platform??? Is that who your reader is? Next I'll be hearing, "Ya know, Internet and email are just a fad"... "Women belong in the kitchen"

We shouldn't be "preserving" the stereotype of Gilpin Court, we should be completely redefining it.

"Built to last" about the DIAMOND?? THERE IS CONCRETE FALLING ON CHILDREN. What historical significance does the Diamond have? What is so innately important about it that we have to SAVE it?

Also Westhampton Baptist Church? Any church that has a congregation and affiliation with a denomination should be taken care of by those parties. If you want to name a church, what about one of the most historic churches in Richmond, Monumental? No denomination or congregation to take care of it. 1814 Greek classical landmark built by Thomas Jefferson prodigy & attended by Edgar Allan Poe. A bit more historical, and downtown, and in need of serious revitalization.

I am so tired of reading these articles about how we should go back in time because Edwin had a really good time then. I want to build a bigger, better Richmond for my children. One that embraces the NEW while appreciating and preserving the past. Important pasts that have historic meaning, and can give something to the future. Let's leave a LEGACY for our children and our city. Not a mess of overgrown parking lots and crumbling 1970's buildings because we were afraid of what the future could be.
