Re: “Evatran: How a Richmond Startup is Forging New Roads in the Electric Car Industry

The Chevrolet Volt has a 9.3 gallon gas tank which while running charges the batteries while driving when the electric range has been used. You will never be stranded with the Volt, unless you run out of gas and electric charge.
This charging system greatly reduces charge time and is extremely convenient. Yes, there is a (up to) $7500 "rebate", which drastically lowers the cost of the Chevrolet Volt vehicle.

Solar energy is not reliable (cloudy days, snow, overcast, evening etc) and the efficiency of the panels are reduced the longer the system is in use. At this point in the energy technology cycle, we need multiple sources of energy. Some might not be environmentally ideal, but until further development, coal and oil will need to be used.
