Hundreds of students and others are held a memorial service at Virginia Commonwealth University on Sunday night to mark the slayings of 49 people early Sunday at a gay bar in Orlando, Florida -- the largest such massacre in American history.

At least two other local events are scheduled to do the same:

Diversity Richmond will hold a 7 p.m. candlelight vigil at 1407 Sherwood Ave. on Tuesday.

On Wednesday at 7 p.m., there will be a prayer vigil at Metropolitan Community Church at 2501 Park Ave. in Richmond.
