With its New Works Festival, the Richmond Ballet brings four new pieces to the stage from four innovative choreographers who’ve never worked with the company. They include: Starrene Foster, artistic director of the Starr Foster Dance Project; Sasha Janes, who’s worked with such prestigious companies as the West Australian Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet and North Carolina Dance Theatre; Darrell Moultrie, whose highly praised, wide-ranging work includes ballet, modern dance and Broadway performances; and Amy Seiwert, named one of 25 to watch by Dance Magazine and who has worked with the New York Choreographic Institute. An art exhibition featuring the art work of the Hang5 artists Loryn Brazier, Beth Marchant, Nancy Mauck, David Tanner and Tom Wise also will be on display in the lobby. Richmond Ballet’s New Works Festival takes place at the Ballet’s Studio Theatre from April 4-14. $20. richmondballet.com.
