Virtually every single Brat's "answer" boiled down to "repeal Obamacare" and "send an economist to congress." He had zero substance or ideas YET because that district had been so badly gerrymandered over time, he chose to run a campaign without a hint of substance.

Sheriff Wade is challenging Brat in the GOP primary indicating that they have at least similar ideas. Isn't it time, again, for a truly two party system? I read somewhere that 85 percent of House seats in America are "safe" for one party or the other which excludes actual thinkers, like Jack Trammell, from overcoming ideologue-driven straight ticket voters and ensures more political gridlock.

International data illustrates that these P3 toll roads cost taxpayers MORE money than if the state had built the projects themselves. In Ontario, the auditor general studied 74 P3 projects over 10 years and discovered taxpayers had paid $8 billion (Canadian) over what the cost would have been if the state had financed, built and operated the infrastructure.

Here's what the OECD says about the cost of transportation privatization:

“At best, partnerships have turned out to be very expensive with the inevitable consequences for future service provision, taxes, and user charges. Not just for today but for a long time to come. These projects may burden government with hidden subsidies, diversion of income streams and revenue guarantees whose impact on public finance may not become apparent for many years and may all be triggered at the same time, precipitating a major fiscal crisis.”

After citing "The US 29 North Corridor Transportation Study," here is what Albemarle County's Comprehensive Plan says about the so-called Western "bypass" of Charlottesville.

“The (bypass) project as designed does not meet community or regional needs, and has been determined too costly for the transportation benefits to be gained. The transportation goals of the Bypass can be more effectively realized with improvements to the existing Route 29 corridor.”
