Re: “First on Earth

Dominion is cleaning up the coal ash waste per court order to the standards set by the Obama's EPA and the State's DEQ. You should address your complaints to them.

Re: “Kehinde Wiley: A Rock Star of the Art World Comes to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

Does anybody else think this is gimmicky and pretentious?

"painting black men in street dress, usually classified as hip-hop style, and placing them in poses from famous paintings by Old Masters — a jarring effect that comments most obviously on the lack of black faces in art history, especially within the aristocratic context of the Western European tradition"

Re: “Environmental Groups Slam Virginia and Gov. Terry McAuliffe

Except that it will be cleaned up to DEQ and EPA standards and undetectable a mile downstream.

Re: “Opinion: How Redskins Football Pushed Richmond's Schools to the Breaking Point

Kenya, comparing RPS to Montgomery County Schools is absurd. RPS is an urban district with 90% of students on free lunches. Montgomery County is a wealthy suburban district with a median family income of $111,000. Apples and oranges.

The study you cited has been disputed and far from conclusive. Sure schools should be maintained, but Richmond has an oversupply of crumbling old buildings and an undersupply of students to fill them. While closing surplus buildings and repairing the remaining ones makes sense, dealing with the underlying problems RPS students face everyday is the only way to give these kids the chance they deserve.

Re: “The President’s Turnaround on Offshore Drilling in Virginia

Climate skeptics (I won’t put them in the same category as Holocaust deniers) tend to grasp on to (vast leftwing) conspiracy theories and while I understand the concept of herd mentality, we are talking about a vast majority of highly trained climate scientist who are convinced that climate change is occurring and it is manmade. Where they might disagree is on the extent and the overall impact of climate change, but at the very least we are talking about a massive melting of polar ice, thawing of the permafrost. gradual warming of the planet with massive impact on weather and plant and animal life setting up a domino effect of unable to habitat loss and extinction. With such consequences already at our doorstep, I’d say it’s high time we pay attention to the experts. The sky is not falling, but the sea is indeed rising and that may be the least of our worries.
