PODCAST: Holidays on Ice: Ride with Santa

Have yourself a merry little something with a special edition music compilation.

The problem with the holidays is the music. You hear too much of the same stuff. For example, the poor people who work at the CVS near my house spend their eight- to 10-hour shifts listening to the same six-song Christmas play list over and over again. They really can’t wait until the season is over. You can see it in their eyes. (And don't even get me started on those who want to ruin Halloween buzz with the stuff. I'm looking at you, Easy 100.9.)

With their slow audio suffering in mind, this podcast was created to offer you a welcomed reprieve from the saturation of the same ol’ Santa tunes. There are different versions of holiday classics and one-of-a-kind Christmas oddities on this mix that starts and ends with Chicago-based performer and writer Walt Jacobs’ introduction and conclusion to his children’s storybook record, “Holidays on Ice: Ride with Santa” released on Capital Records in 1967. These are some of my favorite family-friendly chestnuts I’ve collected over the years and I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do.

Download the podcast below and be sure to say hello to Dominick the Italian Christmas Donkey when you see him.
