Re: “Bypassing Sense

I write as a parent who is concerned about the health impacts of the proposed bypass on hundreds of Charlottesville's school children. Kids at Albemarle High School, Greer, Jack Jouett, Ivy Creek School, Agnor Hurt and STAB are all in the path of the proposed bypass, and will all be directly affected by greater exposure to vehicle emissions. Chemicals and particulates emitted by trucks and other vehicles have detrimental effects on the developing lungs and cardiovascular systems of children. Roadway pollutants also trigger asthma attacks.
The Places 29 alternative is a far better solution for the Charlottesville community, because it will speed up both local and through traffic, while also preserving the environmental health of our schools and the well-being of our kids.
