Re: “Virginia Union University Theater Ensemble Promises a Safe Space For Black Actors

I was a student and a member of the theater family at VUU from 1974-1978. La Cave, located in the basement of the education building was the location of many excellent productions, including "Lumpkin's Jail". Our spring showcase always included edgy, cutting-edge one act plays that pushed the boundaries of what was acceptable at a school like Union. There has been a void in Richmond for a while now. I am so happy to see African American theater rise again in RVA. I am looking forward to supporting the Heritage Ensemble Theater Company. Maybe there will be roles for actors in the 55+ category!
