Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers at the Camel

Sunday, Sept. 23

You’ve been there. Driving your car. Singing so passionately to that FM hit that other drivers think you’re crying. You probably weren’t filming yourself with a band playing in the back seat, though. Even if you were, the video wouldn’t go viral unless you got smacked in the face by a bird. San Francisco beauty Nicki Bluhm and her golden California soul and Americana band, the Gramblers, featuring her surfer husband, Tim Bluhm of the Mother Hips, did make a home video of their band covering the Hall and Oates’ hit “I Can’t Go for That,” while driving their van. At last check, there were more than 1.5 million views. They sang it that well. Now Gap is pushing Bluhm as a model, alongside the Avett Brothers, for its new fall campaign. The up-and-comer, who sounds a little like a young Linda Ronstadt, brings her rootsy originals to the Camel. Nicki Bluhm performs with Sean Rowe at the Camel on Sunday, Sept. 23, at 8 p.m. $10-$12.
