Dec. 31

If you want to blow it out in a more traditional fashion, don that feather boa and head over to the Hof for a night of two bands, DJ Duffy, carnival dancers and Richmond’s only ball drop. The Ball Rise Carnival has a downstairs bar open to public from 3 to 8 p.m., after 8 p.m. only those with tickets allowed inside. The two great bands are bluesy local Andrew Ali and the Mainline and the great Washington-based gypsy jazz and funk of headliner Black Masala. Tickets cost $50 general admission, which includes complimentary buffet, party favors and midnight toast. 2818 W. Broad St. 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. hofheimerbuilding.com.
