New Latin restaurant/grocery La Milpa on Hull Street Road

There's no big news in Tastemakers this week, but we did sniff out a tidbit that slipped past our noses recently.

Though not quite the Kuba Kuba of South Side, there's a nifty little Latin restaurant/grocery nestled there on Hull Street Road called La Milpa, which opened in mid-December.

Claiming to be "your best connection to Latin America," La Milpa's menu offers plenty of the standard meat-and/or beans-in-a-tortilla dishes. Since the place doubles as a grocery store and has an expert staff on hand to help, you'll be able to make everything you see on the menu at home. La Milpa is open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. every day. 6925 Hull Street Road. 276-3391.
