Re: “Washington Redskins Training Camp at Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center

If you feel the need to be condescending about local events, why bother with coverage in the first place?

Re: “Black Swan Books Owner "Disagrees Strongly" with Bannon's Views

I can be quick to call out Style's questionable objectivity, as they tend to invite it; just as you seem quick to defend them (which is totally fine, of course). I enjoy the coverage of different Richmond-related topics and occasionally comment accordingly, despite its seeming infrequency and going unnoticed on your end. Points awarded for noted verb agreement infraction; I'll try to clean things up.
Sounds like we're in agreement that 'social media reaction' does not qualify as news.
The publisher's addendum of the two Twitter posts 'from the other side' now also provide a more even-keeled take, FWIW. It's just strange that they were included only after the first put-down (hyphen) comment was shoveled their way.

Re: “Black Swan Books Owner "Disagrees Strongly" with Bannon's Views

A bit of a rudderless take, Eddie, but fair enough. The twitter reference sources from 'Blake' and 'Rich' were not included when the article was initially published; only the ones from 'Palmer' and 'Rafael'. Blake and Rich's riveting twitter takes were added a few minutes after the first comment was made.

This staff report is the first I've seen Style acknowledge this story. The shop keeper's political opinion is not the news; it's the disrupting patron and the repercussions of her actions.

Your bizarre flutterings of my would-be relationship with Style Weekly is strange - you probably should have left that part out before posting.

Re: “Black Swan Books Owner "Disagrees Strongly" with Bannon's Views

Quite a wretchedly partisan take on this story, Style. The chosen headline isn't really the newsworthy topic to this story at all, is it? We readers know you're trying to maintain relevancy during a time that journalism is taking a sad nosedive, but you're really losing your grip on the craft these days with tar-and-feather pieces such as this. Great clown twitter reference citations, by the way.

Re: “New Independent Station Boomtown Takes Up an Unlikely Residence in Regency Square

This is great for Richmond radio. Nearly all corporate run radio stations have become unbearable, so this comes as a real treat. Also wonderful to see / hear Mr. Jeff McKee back on the airwaves. A legend of Gen-X Richmond radio, as far as I'm concerned.

Re: “Commentary: Go Slowly, Here Comes the Pulse

But Mr. Skidmark himself, Terry McCauliffe, insisted that Richmond jump on those use-it or lose-it federal transportation dollars to cram the Pulse project through. (Don't question that guy - he'd never dabble in questionable transportation-related decision-making, nor his predecessor for that matter).

I do seem to recall that during the carrot-and-stick Pulse proposal, there was some mention that such a system could perhaps set up a template of sorts for light rail along the same (and hopefully expanded) corridor in the eventual future. Any follow up to that, Richmond news reporters?

I do hope the Pulse proves successful and think that the rezoning designation along its route to allow denser development was wisely done. Fingers crossed it all becomes a Richmond success story.

Re: “Debate over Scuffletown Park brings a resignation and a review of rules

I kept waiting for something newsworthy while reading this article. It never came. Maybe an explanation for the flash-in-the-pan presidency of Ms. Toms could have been further investigated?
Otherwise, you've got yourself a scuffle for a story with some /any kind of meaning to it. Maybe the supposed hand-wringing will culminate to a protest, and then, voila, you'll have your beloved and favorite topic. You clever Stylers.
