National Archaeology Month Program at Petersburg National Battlefield
October is Archeology month! To recognize this event, Petersburg National Battlefield will host a hands-on archeology program on October 14 which will help visitors learn more about the methods and techniques used by archeologists to help document the past. Park archeologists will also exhibit military and civilian items from the park’s collection of Civil War relics behind the Eastern Front Visitor Center from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. In addition to the October 14 event, fans of Petersburg National Battlefield’s Facebook page can also try their hand at, “What is that Wednesday?”. Each Wednesday in October, we’ll feature a different artifact giving our Facebook fans a chance to identify the objects.
