Most likely to draw a huge crowd: Mavis Staples

This soulful, rhythm and blues and gospel singer is a rare member of both the Rock and Roll and Blues halls of fame. At 79, she's still kicking it onstage.

She's worked with stars outside her genre, including the Band and Jeff Tweedy – and Bob Dylan even proposed to her: She turned him down. Mavis wasn't having any of that nasal stuff. Her most famous live song is probably "I'll Take You There," originally performed by her family band, the Staples Singers, but she also recently covered the Talking Heads song "Slippery People" at a show. Be forewarned: You only get one chance to see her this weekend and it will be packed.

Mavis Staples performs on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Altria Stage from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m.
