Re: “Ideas Continue for Park Over River

Personally, I would prefer they stay as they are: as ruins. The view of them is almost identical to how they appeared in 1865 photographs of Richmond's destruction at the end of the American Civil War, and they are perhaps the only surviving visual relic of the Evacuation Fire.

Re: “Kicking History‚Äôs Anthill

Again, no one mentions the other great short-sighted decision so often overlooked when covering this issue: the city selling/trading the area where New Market is now for Brown's Island way back when. If only we had held onto Gamble's Hill Park, and built out from there, instead of turning it over to private interests.

Re: “More to Treegate: No One Mentions $15 Million Exhibits?

Question: how can they get an SR-71 into the old terminal hall without either disassembling the plane, or demolishing a wall in the National Register-listed building? Also, the rendering suggests that in order to build the pavilion, they may end up demolishing the historic steam plant outside! The Museum's old plan, if I recall right, was to use the building for energy exhibits, a natural on-sight way of explaining it to kids (before the recession funding delayed it). And now it looks like its going to be demolished for an events pavilion. This plan is getting worse all the time, IMHO.
