It’s been named one of the best races in the country by USA Today, but locally it’s known as one of the year’s biggest block parties with more than 30,000 participants and many nonparticipants partying, waving signs and rooting for the runners and walkers. Registration is officially open and the Virginia 529 kids run starts at 8 a.m. The Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10-K officially begins at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $32 to $55.
