Thanks for this well-researched and well written article. We greatly appreciate your interest! May I take a moment to recommend the very serious, scholarly, interesting and indeed often-moving social history of night-time by VA Tech professor A. Roger Ekrich entitled "At Day's Close: Night in Times Past" - this superb book greatly informed our research for the exhibition. Also, I would be remiss not to thank the fantastic staff of VMFA - particularly of the newly created Frank Raysor Center for the Study of Works on Paper - without whom these very work-intensive exhibitions would never see the light of "day".
