Miss Gay Richmond Pageant

Sunday, June 6

While it's pretty difficult to one-up Richmond's Caressa Cameron on her recent crowning as Miss America, Victoria Snow (pictured) attempts to bring the glamour back to Richmond by revitalizing the Miss Gay Richmond Pageant, a once-prominent drag event that fell by the wayside about 10 years ago. Its new incarnation doubles as a fundraiser for educational scholarships to youth in need, and features plenty of “Birdcage”-inspired contestants competing in nonseasonal sportswear, evening wear and talent categories while they vie for a crown and $1,000. The pageant will be held Sunday, June 6, at 6 p.m. at the Renaissance Conference Center. $35-$60.
