McBeth EP Release Party at the Camel

Saturday, May 24. 9 p.m.

McBeth is primed for prime time. In a town known primarily for its underground sound, the Richmond singing duo of McAyla Beatley and Beth Martin make unabashed mainstream pop music. Much of their high-pro glow can be attributed to their Grammy-nominated producer, manager and aspiring media mogul, Michael Congdon. The founder of Artesian Entertainment Group has taken great care to mold the aspiring 19-year-old singers into teeny-bopper sensations, shaping every aspect of their sound and image for maximum earning potential. The shrewdly calculated endeavor pays immediate dividends on the duo’s new self-titled EP release. It’s chock full of sugary dance-floor confections, with chef Congdon using Beatley and Martin as his primary ingredients to extract dollars from the post-Nickelodeon set. McBeth celebrates the launch of their public offering Saturday at the Camel. Unix opens. Doors open for the all-ages show at 9 p.m. Admission is $5. thecamel.org.
