Mayor Stoney's Community Meeting

The family of Marcus-David Peters confront Mayor Levar Stoney at a community meeting Thursday evening at Huguenot High School.

Peters' sister Princess Blanding is still seeking answers about the circumstances around his May 14 death, when he was shot by a Richmond Police officer.

"We’re not backing down until there’s justice and reformation for my brother. I know that the Commonwealth's Attorney has something to do, he has a job to do, and i’m not stepping on his toes by any means," Blanding says at the meeting. "But see this has been going on for a long time, O.K., that black people are continuously being killed."

Stoney says the investigation is now in the hands of Commonwealth's Attorney Michael Herring, and thus he cannot comment. Police spokesperson Gene Lepley also declined to comment.

Blanding says she plans to attend Stoney's next Community Office Hours on Tuesday, July 31.
