Home to art exhibits, local music and other community events, Jackson Ward’s Gallery5 is always showing off the community’s creative expression. Now the community gives back to the gallery. Matters of the Arts: Keeping the 5 Alive is an all-day fundraising event to raise money and community awareness for Gallery5. Activities include a family fair and market with food from Station 2, entertainment from Silly Bus and RVA Hoop House, face painting and craft tables, a gaming area from Play N Trade and art from the children at Fair Oaks Elementary School. While all that’s going on downstairs, the gallery will feature local vendors selling such wide-ranging fare as jewelry and health food. Matters of the Arts: Keeping the 5 Alive takes place at Gallery5 on Sunday, July 21, from 2-5 p.m. No cover for the market. Activity tickets are $1. gallery5arts.org.
