Re: “Punk Rock Bernie Sanders Mural Goes Up on Broad Street

Kyle Jon Stevenson, any human system with too much power will intrude on the lives of individuals. You think big government intrudes on peoples lives? Well you're right. But so does the collective of big corporate interests. When big businesses become too powerful they wield intruding force on individuals' lives but because they do not derive their power from individuals they are not accountable to them. At least in a democratic form of government the power is derived from individuals so they have a say in the decisions government makes.

Example. During the Obamacare debate conservatives screamed about death panels, i.e. some government bureaucracy deciding what care you're entitled to. Well, I always thought it was interesting that we already had this without Obamacare. Except the insurance business bureaucracies were deciding what treatment would be granted with no effective recourse for patients. You can't vote to dethrone the insurance business for screwing with your interests. You can vote people or a party out of office if it's a government effort.
