Re: “Cuts Both Ways

I think it's interesting that Mint and Julep's did put out coupons and then complained publicly via this article. My husband and I bought the Groupon for both and I have to say, I disagree with RVAChef. We will definitely be back to Mint. We loved it. The Groupon was a great way for us to try the restaurant for the first time at a discount, and we always tip on the actual amount, not the discounted price. We actually won't probably go back soon to Julep's because we just didn't enjoy it that much. Like the article says, though, we'll still try it again because we're still developing our own tastes and may have just gotten a dish we don't like. I write reviews on Google+ and Urban Spoon to share experiences with people via social media. I think that's the concept of social media. Socially sharing. I'm in support of local businesses venting their customer complaints, but I also feel that sharing your negative AND positive feedback through services like Urban Spoon can help others find great restaurants, and avoid ones with truly negative experiences. If you're writing a constructive criticism, then I think it's totally appropriate. If you're at a restaurant, and had a truly horrible experience, in most cases, you'll tell your waiter(ress) anyway. At least that's how we roll.
