Hibbert, known as a happy and upbeat performer, is being treated for depression and insomnia for the first time, the psychiatrist writes: “Mr. Hibbert … stated that he has started to feel that ‘dis whole ting have me,’ which translates to feeling defeated in the English language.” This translates, from Jamaican patois to mean" THIS WHOLE THING HAS ME", which means it is taken over his life, not that he is defeated. It is pervasive and is coloring every aspect. Traumatic brain injuries can take over one's life, to include the insomnia and depression, memory loss, ability to hold meaningful work .So, not unnecessary and disrespectful... but may need some clarification.
