Kuf Knotz

Kuf Knotz’s blunted brand of hip-hop is a boom-box mixture of soul, blues, jazz and rock. The Queens-based word slinger unleashes a torrent of verbiage in promotion of positive pursuits. Be it sex, politics or life at large, his boldfaced proclamations give thanks more for mutual good times than the shameless promotion of id. He comes across as a preacher with no clearly defined religion or divisive dogma while he relates his tales over an ever-shifting mix of funky melodic motivations. It’s a melting pot of sound and delivery borrowed from Digable Planets, Common and the Fugees. But Knotz adds enough of his own ingredients to the gumbo to create a flavor all his own. He brings his inclusive party to the Camel on Sunday, April 5. Richmond hip-droppers the Sam Reed Syndicate open. Doors open for the all-ages show at 8 p.m. Admission is $5. thecamel.org.
