Music from the baroque era is often called the gateway into classical music. The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia opens the gates wide from Dec. 15 to 18, in concerts that explore the beauty, brilliance and relevance of 18th century classical music.
Performing on period string instruments and wooden traverso flutes, artists present a concert of elegant baroque music, including Corelli’s famous “Christmas Concerto, and Telemann’s “Tafelmusik” suite. Guest artists include Christina Day Martinson, concertmaster of Boston Baroque, and violinist Johnny Gandelsman from Brooklyn Rider.
